15 climbers have been hit by an avalanche climbing the Mont Blanc du Tacul, part of the route to the summet of Mont Blanc early this morning.

There has been a large avalanche on the north face of the Dôme des Ecrins in the Hautes-Alpes at 3900 meters altitude.

A group of three French skier tourers have been caught by an avalanche in the North East Couloir of the Aiguille de Tricot (3 665 m), above the Bionnassay glacier in the Mont Blanc range.

A 60 year old male skier, resident of the Haute-Savoie department, has been killed by an avalanche descending from the Pointe Yeld (3560m) in the Mont Blanc mountain range.

A 21 year old climber has been killed and another suffered knee injuries in an avalanche on the West side of the Gerbier mountain near the ski resort of Villard de Lans in the Vecors mountain range.

An avalanche has caught a large group of ski tourers at le Mont Dore in the Massif Central. Four of them have been killed, 3 lightly injured, one had triggered his airbag.

A couple of ski tourers, a man and a woman aged in their 40s, have been involved in an avalanche incident on the crête de l’Arpion (2671m) in the Southern French Alps.

Two skiers have been caught in by an on piste avalanche at Praz de Lys Sommand. The Lac piste, a blue run, was open at the time.

There have been a number of avalanches involving skiers and snowshoers across the French alps today.
